VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is a technology that allows you to make voice calls over the LTE (4G) network.
Unlike traditional calls that use 2G or 3G networks, VoLTE transmits voice as a data stream over LTE. This provides several benefits:
- Instant connection: Calls connect almost instantly, without delay;
- High sound quality: Voice is transmitted in HD quality, which provides clearer and cleaner sound;
- Multitasking: VoLTE allows you to simultaneously talk on the phone and use the Internet without losing connection quality;
- Less Power Consumption: VoLTE technology is more power efficient than traditional calls, which improves your smartphone’s battery life.
Typically, VoLTE does not require activation. It is automatically enabled if your smartphone and SIM card support this technology.
The “VoLTE” icon indicates that the function of the same name is enabled and working on the phone. It is usually enabled by default and does not require additional configuration. However, some users may not see the icon.
This is because the “VoLTE” function directly depends on the cellular operator. Sometimes, activating a function in the phone settings is not enough to display the icon in the status bar.

Methods for enabling the technology may vary depending on the smartphone model and the device’s operating network. General instructions for different smartphone models may look like this:
Make sure your smartphone and SIM card support VoLTE
Check the specifications of your smartphone on the manufacturer’s website. The device’s instructions should contain information about VoLTE support. Make sure your SIM card is 4G/4G+.
Check VoLTE availability in your region
Check your carrier’s website or app for VoLTE availability in your region. The list of areas can be found at the link or in the image below.
Enable VoLTE in your smartphone’s settings
- Open the Settings app on your smartphone.
- Find the “Network and Internet” or “Mobile Network” section.
- Select “SIM cards” and then your SIM card.
- Find “VoLTE” or “HD calling” and turn it on.

Open Settings.
Select Mobile Network in Settings.
Select the SIM card for which you want to enable VoLTE. In our case it is SIM1.
In settings, find “Calls via VoLTE”.
Move the slider to enable VoLTE technology;

How to disable VoLTE
To turn off the technology, move the slider to enable the SIM card settings on your smartphone. Using the OPPO 78 as an example, the disabled technology will look like this.
How to connect VoLTE on iPhone
Make sure you have iOS 13.2 or later. You should also check that the SIM card supports 4G and VoLTE.
Open Settings.

- Call the toll-free number 8 800 550‑05‑00. Look at the status icons of your smartphone, if it shows LTE or VoLTE, then you are using VoLTE.
MTS
- Dial *111*6#. You will receive an SMS informing you that VoLTE is available on your phone.
Yota
- Call the toll-free number 8 800 550-00-07. Once connected, the 4G/LTE or VoLTE icons should appear next to the signal antenna. This means you are using VoLTE.
